A teacher was injured this morning when a SUV drove into a classroom with eight toddlers inside at the KinderCare Learning Center on the 2300 block of Ninth Avenue Southwest in Olympia, according to the Olympia Police Department.
The teacher suffered minor injuries, and two children were knocked over by debris but were not injured, said Sgt. Aaron Jelcick.
Investigators say that about 8:42 a.m. a 33-year-old man hit the accelerator instead of the brakes of his 2007 Acura MDX as he pulled into the parking area. Nearly all of the vehicle entered the building. A woman and a small child in the vehicle were not hurt.
Police don't think alcohol or drugs were involved. The vehicle is being evaluated to determine whether there were mechanical problems that contributed to the crash.
