Seattle police on Tuesday released a photo of the man charged last week with raping and torturing a 24-yearold prostitute inside a “bondage room” at his North - East Tacoma mobile home.
Police released the photo to encourage other possible victims to come forward.
John Joseph Hauff Jr., 66, was charged with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree rape and second-degree assault for the April 2 incident.
Police say he picked the woman up in Seattle and offered her $100 to let him tie her wrists to his bedposts and use a sex toy on her. He tortured her with electrodes for hours and hit her with a paddle, according to charging documents.
Hauff released her and paid her extra money after she told him had sent a text message to her boyfriend with Hauff’s license plate number and information about where she was going.
Detectives said the bondage room had 8-inch-thick walls. They recovered syringes, belts, paddles, sexual devices, ropes, chains and electrodes, charging documents state.
