Search crews were looking Wednesday for a 68-year-old Auburn man missing since Saturday, when he left home to pick mushrooms near Packwood.
The man’s family reported him missing Sunday, according to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department. His family believed he was headed somewhere between Interstate 90 and Packwood. His vehicle was found Tuesday on Forest Service Road 4715, about five miles northwest of Packwood.
Search crews, including ground crews, all-terrain vehicles and tracking dogs, looked for the man for six hours Tuesday night and resumed their search about 6 a.m. Wednesday.
The man is an experienced mushroom picker but did not have the equipment to be outside for more than a few hours, especially with high winds and rain over the weekend, a sheriff’s spokesman said. He had a small amount of food with him.
