The victim in that incident, a 27 year old Mossyrock man, was hiking with friends when a coat got hung up on a limb and somehow caused his .357 caliber rifle to discharge striking him in the right foot. They returned to their car and drove the victim to Morton General Hospital.
The second incident occurred at approximately 11 a.m. in the 500 block of Winston Creek Road near Mossyrock. A 53 year old Gig Harbor man was at his hunting camp preparing to test fire his .22 caliber pistol when he heard a sound. As he turned, he slipped on a rock and dropped his pistol. When the pistol hit the ground it discharged and the round struck him in the leg. He called 911 and the fire department responded and transported him to Morton General Hospital for treatment.
