Councilman M. John Way has resigned from the Tumwater City Council to pursue his career as an attorney in Seattle, the city announced in a news release.
Way resigned on Tuesday. He was appointed to the council in May 2013 and then was elected to a full term that expires in 2017.
“It has been an honor and a pleasure to serve on the Tumwater City Council,” he said in a statement.
The council will review options for filling the open seat at a future meeting, according to the news release.
