Lacey Fire District 3 crews were dispatched to a small fire at about 7:55 p.m. Thursday at Horizons Elementary School.
Initial reports stated that smoke was coming out of the roof of a portable building at the school at 4601 67th Ave. SE, Lacey, according to a Thurston County dispatcher.
The fire was quickly extinguished, according to fire officials.
The cause of the fire was unknown, and is under investigation by Lacey Police.
Nobody was injured, but there was smoke damage to the building, according to North Thurston Public Schools spokeswoman Courtney Schrieve.
“We will have a plan in place for that classroom tomorrow,” she said.
It’s a room that’s used to support the special education program, she said.
No other details were immediately available.
