The body of a man, thought to be in his late 50s or early 60s, was found Sunday morning just south of Interstate 5 near Sleater-Kinney Road in Lacey, according to the Lacey Police Department.
About 11 a.m. Sunday, Lacey Police were dispatched to a grass and tree-covered hill between the freeway and the McDonald’s restaurant on Sleater-Kinney Road.
Once there, they found the body of a partially clothed man who possibly was a transient, Sgt. Terence Brimmer said Sunday.
The cause of death was uknown, although there were no obvious signs of foul play, he said.
The area where the body was found also showed signs of having been used as a day camp, Brimmer said.
The time of death could have been late last night or early Sunday morning, he said.
Thurston County Coroner Gary Warnock said late Sunday that an autopsy is set for Tuesday or Wednesday. The man’s name will be released once family has been notified, he said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Lacey Police detective division at 360-459-4333 or Olympia/Thurston County Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
