A celebration of life for Jose Gomez will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at The Evergreen State College’s Longhouse Education and Cultural Arts Center.
He died Sept. 14, 2014, and was a renowned labor leader, gay rights activist and legal scholar.
From 1970 to 1975, he worked for Caesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta to organize labor protests and boycotts with the United Farm Workers. He began at Evergreen in 1988, and taught Constitutional Law and Federal Indian Law.
The service is open to the public. The college’s address is 2700 Evergreen Parkway NW, Olympia.
