The Lacey Fire District 3 Board of Fire Commissioners need to fill a vacancy on the commission after Commissioner Dennis Jones resigned this month for health and personal reasons.
He was elected to the board in 2013.
Those interested in the commissioner position should send a letter of interest to the district by 5 p.m. Feb. 18. The board will review the letters of interest to determine whether interviews are necessary prior to making an appointment in March, according to a news release.
A background check is required prior to appointment.

Applicants must also live within the fire district’s boundaries and be registered to vote. Information packets are available on the fire district website at www.laceyfire.com.

The appointed commissioner will serve until the general election in November and then will have to decide whether to run again. If elected, he or she will complete the remaining four years of Jones’ six-year term.
