The Olympia World Affairs Council will host a program called “Combatting Human Trafficking in Southeast Asia” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 19) at The Olympia Center, Room 101, 222 Columbia St. NW.
Guest speaker is Therese M. Caouette, executive director of Partners Asia in San Francisco. The organization is providing financial and technical support for local leaders in Burma, also known as Myanmar.
Caouette works with refugees, migrants and displaced people in Southeast Asia. She has served as a consultant to the United Nations to study the trafficking of women and children in the Mekong region. She also has researched human rights issues in Burma, Cambodia and Thailand.
