The Port of Olympia commission on Thursday will meet for the first time since Commissioner Sue Gunn announced her resignation last Friday.
Thursday’s gathering at 2:30 p.m. is a commission work session.
There’s only one item on the agenda — a discussion about the proposed redevelopment of the port’s Tumwater Town Center Campus — but the commission also will hear public comment at the discretion of Commissioner George Barner, president of the commission.
Gunn decided to resign to give herself more time to recover from open-heart surgery that she underwent on Dec. 18. But her time away from the commission also became controversial after the commission decided Feb. 17 not to excuse her from any more commission meetings.
Under state law, an unexcused absence for 60 days means Gunn would’ve lost her seat on the commission. That date would’ve been April 18.
The work session is at Tumwater Town Center, 7241 Cleanwater Drive SW Tumwater, WA 98501.
