The city of Olympia will host a launch party for its Action Plan from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday (April 18) at The Olympia Center, 222 Columbia St. NW.
The public is invited to learn more about the Action Plan, which is considered a “road map” for how the city accomplishes goals set forth in its comprehensive plan. The latter is a blueprint that outlines the city’s vision for the next 20 years.
The comp plan includes projections and policy on population growth, zoning requirements, downtown revitalization, streets and alleys, speed limits, disaster preparedness, park maintenance, urban density and sea levels.
One main objective with the Action Plan is to encourage people to get involved in shaping a six-year plan for moving forward on the new goals and policies, the city reports. The Action Plan also is seen as a “community to-do list” and a way to track progress.
The public can also participate in an online survey about the Action Plan at olyspeaks.org.
