An airplane carrying one person crashed in a field near Grand Mound Tuesday afternoon, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.
Sgt. Carla Carter said the 72-year-old pilot of the Cessna 170 was headed to Chehalis when the crash happened. He was alive and talking to dispatchers at Thurston 9-1-1 Communications, but the extent of his injuries were not immediately clear. The pilot was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
