Motorcyclist hits deer, is flown to hospital
A Rochester man in his 40s was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle on Sunday morning after he crashed his motorcycle into a deer in south Thurston County, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
About 9 a.m. Sunday, the man crashed into a deer in the area of Prather Road Southwest and Lundeen Road Southwest after apparently passing another vehicle and then accelerating, Sgt. Alvin Griffin said.
Never miss a local story.
The man, who was wearing a helmet, was knocked unconscious and then regained consciousness, and was able to answer some questions, said Griffin, quoting witnesses to the accident. The people in the vehicle who were passed by the motorcyclist later pulled over to help him, Griffin said.
The deer was killed, he said.
