The body of a 75-year-old Shelton man was found floating just below the surface of the water in Lake Nawatzel Wednesday afternoon, according to a press release from the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.
The boater who discovered the man called 911 about 4 p.m., and deputies, fire aid rescue and Department of Fish & Wildlife agents responded. They pulled the man’s body from the water and recovered his fishing boat found afloat nearby.
Next of kin was notified, and the man was identified as Rodney Joe Michaelis. No foul play is suspected in his death.
The Mason County Coroner’s Office believe the man may have suffered a cardiac episode of some type, either before or after falling out of his boat.
An autopsy has been scheduled for sometime this week.
Lake Nawatzel is located roughly 13 miles west of Shelton.
