Tenino Mayor Bret Brodersen held a public hearing this month to remove a member of the city’s planning commission.
Francisco “Paco” Wenzel, the chairman of the commission, had become inactive in his role at the end of 2014. Wenzel was appointed to the position in October 2011, but had missed every planning commission meeting from January of this year to August.
Brodersen called for Wenzel’s removal for not completing his duties. Brodersen said city officials had tried to contact Wenzel by email and phone and did not receive any response.
“As far as I’m aware and staff is aware, he has not been involved with city government since the end of 2014,” Brodersen said.
Wenzel was not present at the meeting and no community members spoke on the matter. The council unanimously approved the removal of Wenzel from the commission and declared his position vacant.
The council approved the appointment of Fred Evander to fill Wenzel’s spot.
