A big name in political commentary is coming to Grays Harbor on Tuesday.
Thomas Frank, a widely renowned political analyst and author, will be at Grays Harbor College for a lecture and book signing.
Frank is the author of “What’s the Matter with Kansas? How Conservatives Won the Heart of America,” as well as “Pity the Billionaire.” His works examine trends and culture in politics and he has had pieces published in The New York Times, Harper’s, and the New York Review of Books.
“What’s the Matter with Kansas” examines Kansas’ shift from a predominately Democratic-leaning state to one that focuses more on the Republican Party.
Grays Harbor College professor and president of the Grays Harbor Institute Gary Murrell corresponded with Frank via email to set up the event.
“It’s a great opportunity to have people in Grays Harbor hear someone who’s a nationally known author and a well-respected voice in the progressive literary field,” Murrell said. “He’s a person who does a lot of radio programs and is all over the country. We’re pretty lucky we’ve gotten him.”
The event begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday in room 4143 of the Schermer Building. Admission is $10.
