The Thurston County Commission has selected seven people to serve on the new Agritourism Committee.
The committee, established in October, will make recommendations to the commissioners on issues such as the county’s Agritourism Overlay District and Thurston Bountiful Byway.
The members of the committee are Sally Alhadeff, involved in the Tenino FFA and Thurston County Master Gardeners; John Bourdon, operator of Sandstone Distillery on the county’s Bountiful Byway; Thane Bryenton, owner of a lavender farm; Matt Grace, from the Rotary Clean Water, Cool Jazz Committee and the Thurston County Food Bank; Aslan “Thomas” Meade, chairman of the Thurston Food System Council; Juanita Taurman, who serves on the Agritourism planning group; and Gene Weaver, who is involved with the Grand Mound/Rochester Chamber and a Rochester area fire department.
The committee will work with the Olympia-Lacey-Tumwater Visitor and Convention Bureau to develop a marketing plan for Thurston Bountiful Byway. Other duties include review of membership applications from interested businesses, nonprofit organizations, or governmental entities.
Never miss a local story.
No dates have been set yet for committee meetings, which will be open to the public.
