Swedish Pancake Breakfast: The traditional New Year’s Day breakfast returns to Fords Prairie Grange from 8 a.m.-noon. The menu: authentic Swedish pancakes served with lingonberry butter and hot strawberry preserves, sausage, scrambled eggs, juice and coffee. Adults $7; kids 12 and younger $4. Annual first-day hike: Sponsored by the Friends of Schafer and Lake Sylvia, the hike will be a 2-mile loop trail around Lake Sylvia. A shorter hike will be led by a volunteer. Hikers should meet at 1 p.m. at the kitchen area. Hot drinks and cookies will be provided. The hike is free, and Jan. 1 is a “state park free day” so no Discovery Pass will be needed.
