An Olympia man in his 40s is under investigation for driving under the influence after he drove his truck off the road and crashed into a power pole on Saturday, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.
About 4:30 p.m. Saturday, the man was northbound on Johnson Point Road in his truck when he swerved off the road in the 4800 block and knocked out power to 187 Puget Sound Energy customers in the area, spokesman Ray Lane said Monday.
Power was restored to some customers on Saturday night, while others had to wait until noon Sunday, he said.
The man, who suffered minor injuries, was later taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympias. A blood sample also was taken as part of the DUI investigation, Sgt. Dave Odegaard said Sunday.
