A 34-year-old Lacey man was killed Thursday morning when his motorcycle collided with another vehicle while traveling north on Interstate 5, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Edmund D. Cross was driving a yellow Triumph motorcycle at a high speed about 12:30 a.m. when he rear-ended what detectives believe was a semi-truck near milepost 113 just west of Nisqually. Cross was thrown from the bike and landed on the road, Trooper Brooke Bova said.
The driver of the semi was unaware of the collision and continued north on I-5.
A second northbound semi then struck what he thought was a deer and pulled over. When he got out of his truck, he saw the man lying on the road and dialed 911. Cross died at the scene.
Northbound I-5 was closed while an investigation took place. The cause of the crash and whether there will be charges is under investigation.
