Human remains were found Friday morning along the Chehalis Western Trail, near the intersection with State Route 507, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.
Sgt. Carla Carter said the remains do not belong to Olympia woman Gail Doyle, who went missing on June 2.
County Coroner Gary Warnock said the remains have male characteristics, and he’s unsure how long they had been by the trail. Warnock said he’s hopeful that his office will be able to identify the remains, as they will be able to check them against dental records in the missing persons database.
“If this person was reported missing, we should be able to figure out who they are,” Warnock said.
Sheriff’s Office officials don’t suspect foul play in the person’s death.
Carter said a crew installing power poles near the road found the remains.
