A west Olympia paddleboard shop will host a Lakefair fireworks-watching party Sunday night on the south end of Budd Inlet.
Anyone with a paddleboard — or $25 for a rental — is invited.
West Bay Paddleboards expects 25 to 30 people to paddle the mile trip through the bay to watch the show from stand-up boards, kayaks and canoes.
At 8:45 p.m. Sunday, watch-party participants should meet at the West Bay shop at 2100 West Bay Drive NW for preparation and headcount. The group will paddle to the lake together — boats will be illuminated with safety lights — and anchor upon arrival with a rope to tie the boats together.
Never miss a local story.
“This is kind of a themed social paddle that will be the best seat in the house,” West Bay Paddleboards owner Chris Fry said. “Anyone with experience in stand-up paddle board, owns a kayak, canoe or any watercraft, is invited to join.”
Stand-up boards may be rented at West Bay, but Fry said they are down to eight paddleboards. The fee is $25 and those interested are asked to call ahead for prepayment. Reach West Bay Paddleboards at 360-584-0582 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
