Police are searching for a suspect they say stole nearly $50,000 in rings from a Lacey jewelry store on Monday.
Police were called to Kluh Jewelers on Sleater Kinney Road Southeast shortly before 5 p.m. for a reported theft. Employees told police a man asked to see two rings — one valued at $42,495, the other at $7,500 — and then took off with the jewelry, according to Lacey Police Sgt. Jaime Newcomb.
The suspect then ran toward the Chehalis Western Trail near Pacific Avenue. Police from Lacey and Olympia searched the area but did not find him.
The suspect was described as a black man in his 20s, thin, between 6 feet 3 inches and 6 feet 4 inches tall. Employees said he was wearing a military-style uniform, according to Newcomb.

The more expensive of the two rings was described as a emerald cut yellow diamond.
The store’s owner declined to comment.
