Four people were arrested after suspected thieves led police on a chase through Yelm Tuesday afternoon.
Police were called to Walmart for a report of men loading stolen electronics into an SUV at about 2 p.m., according to Yelm Police Chief Todd Stancil. Officers initially stopped the SUV, but then the driver took off down Yelm Avenue at 40-50 mph, according to Stancil.
The driver jumped railroad tracks and drove on the shoulder of the tracks while police took a paved road that runs alongside the tracks, Stancil said. The SUV driver then tried to drive down an embankment and got stuck.
Three men fled on foot but were captured by police. A woman who was with the men at Walmart also was arrested.
Thurston County Sheriff’s deputies assisted in the chase.
