Tacoma police released surveillance images Wednesday of a man suspected of carjacking a woman and dropping her off at Point Defiance Park, then robbing two stores at gunpoint Tuesday.
Detectives hope someone recognizes the man and calls police. Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 for information leading to the man’s arrest and charges filed in the cases.
The carjacking happened about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday when a man with a gun approached a woman walking to her car in a parking garage near South 10th Street and Pacific Avenue and demanded her keys and car, police reported.
The man and a female companion forced the woman into her car, bound her hands and legs and drove her to Point Defiance Park, where they left her on the side of the road.
Investigators believe the same man robbed the Safe-way at 2637 N. Pearl St. about 12:30 p.m. The armed robber gave a clerk a note that demanded cash, and he left with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.
About seven hours later, the man held up the Union 76 gas station at 8235 S. Hosmer St., investigators believe. The robber showed a gun and demanded cash from the clerk.
The woman who took part in the carjacking was described as white and about 20 years old. She had a slender build, blonde hair and wore a black hooded jacket. There are no surveillance images of her.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 253-591-5959. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
