An 18-year-old woman jogging on a trail behind the Clearwood development near Yelm was attacked from behind and thrown to the ground Saturday night, but was able to elude her attacker by running away, according to the Thurston County Sheriff's Office.
Thurston County sheriff’s Lt. Greg Elwin said the woman reported she was jogging with her sister on the Reichel Beach trail between 6:30 and 7 p.m., but the two were separated.
According to Elwin:
The 18-year-old reported that she felt someone grab her sweatshirt from behind and she fell to the ground. She said she then got up and ran. She added that she turned around to look over her shoulder as she ran away, and she saw a man chasing her. She was able to elude the man and call 911, Elwin said.
