Lakewood police are asking for the public's help in locating an "extremely dangerous" man wanted for the videotaped torture and slaying of a victim.
Maalo Semu Samaota, 30, was charged last week with aggravated first-degree murder. Police say he may be in the Portland area.
The case recently came to light after a woman gave Spokane police a 19-minute video showing a bound and gagged man being tortured with a knife.
Michael Edward Crosman, who has entered a plea of not guilty to aggravated first-degree murder, told detectives the slaying was payback for the victim stealing a vehicle full of drugs. Crosman is believed to have recorded the crime while Samaota wielded a knife and taunted the victim.
The murder likely took place last July, Lt. Dave Guttu said.
The victim in the video has not been identified, but investigators believe the remains found March 10 near Harts Lake in eastern Pierce County belong to the victim.
Anyone with information on Samaota’s whereabouts is asked to the call Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers at 253-591-5959 or the Lakewood Police Department at 253-798-4721.
