A bomb threat called into the Mason County Courthouse Thursday morning was a false alarm, according to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office responded to the call at about 10:30 a.m., and the courthouse was evacuated. Deputies and the Washington State Patrol Explosives Unit searched the building but didn’t find anything suspicious, said Detective William Adam.
“We get a bomb threat probably once a year, so not very often,” Adam said. “We take them seriously and investigate thoroughly.”
“But if we caught the person who did it, they would be in serious trouble,” he added.
