The Olympia woman accused of making threats against school children will undergo a competenct evaluation at Western State Hospital.
Karen M. Kibler was scheduled for arraignment in Thurston County Superior Court on Tuesday morning, but Judge Anne Hirsch instead postponed the hearing and approved a motion for an evaluation. Western State Hospital will determine whether Kibler is competent to stand trial.
Kibler was arrested Jan. 16 after the FBI received an online tip that eventually was forwarded to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office. The tip allegedly came from Kibler.
According to court documents, the tip was a rambling, profanity-laced message that references Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan, time travel and President Barack Obama, but it ends this way, according to court documents:
Never miss a local story.
“I’m about to shoot up a school full of children just to be heard to prevent more past wars from happening ... so, I am documenting this and when I kill a school full of children, consider it triage!!!!”
After Kibler was put in handcuffs, the deputy asked if she had been diagnosed with any mental illnesses. Kibler replied that she had been diagnosed with a delusion disorder, according to court documents.
