A Tumwater man accused of uploading sexually explicit pictures and videos of children to a website pleaded not guilty to child pornography charges in Thurston County Superior Court on Tuesday morning.
Jerome D. Carson is charged with dealing in depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct and possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. He was arrested following an FBI investigation and released on $50,000 bail.
According to court documents, a user that went by the name “Kokolove” posted 17 sexually explicit photos and videos of children online between January and December of 2014. The FBI learned about Kokolove’s involvement in posting images during an international investigation of a child pornography website.
The FBI identified Kokolove as Carson using Comcast records, according to court documents. FBI agents searched Carson’s home and vehicles and found 27 pieces of digital evidence, including a hard drive containing child pornography.
During an interview, Carson admitted to being Kokolove. He said he downloaded child pornography onto his hard drive, then re-uploaded it to the website so that he could maintain his membership. He told agents that he prefered pornography depicting girls under the age of 10, according to court documents.
FBI agents also found photographs of women, including “up skirt” photographs, on Carson’s hard drive. Carson told agents that he used his cell phone to take videos of women in public, according to court documents.
Carson’s trial was set for the week of May 18.
