A 54-year-old Lacey man was arrested and booked into the Nisqually jail on Friday night for investigation of stalking a child, according to Lacey Police Sgt. Terence Brimmer.
Kenneth Duane Fournier appeared Monday in Thurston County District Court, and his bail was set at $20,000.
Lacey police gave this account:
About 8 a.m. Feb. 27, an 8-year-old girl reported that she had been followed by a blue sedan near her school bus stop in the area of 14th Avenue and Willow Street Southeast. The child said the vehicle was driven by a 40- to 50-year-old man who was taking a cellphone video of her.
Based on that report, Lacey detectives conducted surveillance in the area. On Thursday, a detective saw a blue sedan driven by a man who matched the description the 8-year-old had given.
The detective made contact with the man and determined he was a suspect in the incident involving the child.
Police obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s phone, and “thousands of pornographic photographs were recovered,” according to police. The man was arrested for investigation of stalking with sexual intent and was booked into jail.
The Washington Courts directory indicates that Fournier has no felonies in the state and is not registered as a sex offender.
Anyone with more information on the case is asked to call Lacey Police at 360-459-4333 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
