Mason County resident Jeannie Crandell, 67, died Monday after being shot. Her husband, 67-year-old Gary Crandell, reported that he accidentally shot her while cleaning his gun, according to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.
He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree manslaughter and appeared Tuesday in Mason County Superior Court.
He was being held in the Mason County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.

Deputies responded to the home in the 100 block of Southeast Evan Boulevard just before 5 p.m. Medics arrived a few minutes later and pronounced the woman dead.
Gary Crandell was at the scene, and he reported that he had accidentally shot his wife while cleaning his gun. He was arrested.
Mason County Coroner Wes Stockwell notified family members of Crandell’s death and released her name.
