Thurston County Sheriff John Snaza has graduated June 12 from the FBI National Academy following 10 weeks of training, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office.
Snaza was one of 220 law enforcement officers to graduate from the academy in Quantico, Virginia. Academy training is provided by FBI staff, special agents and academy staff. Classes are offered in law, behavioral science, forensic science, leadership, communication, health, and understanding terrorists and terrorism mindsets.
While at the academy, Snaza won the Yellow Brick Road award after completing a 6.1-mile run along a trail built by the Marines. While running the course, contestants must climb over walls, run through creeks, jump through simulated windows, crawl under barbed wire and maneuver across a cargo net.
