The Olympia Police Department will increase its presence at Capital City Pride this weekend in light of the June 12 shooting in Orlando.
Lt. Paul Lower said the department typically supplies about 15 officers and volunteers for traffic and crowd control. That won’t change. But this weekend, another four to five officers will mingle with the crowd.
The police department doesn’t know of any threats made against the event, Lower said.
“This is really a show of support from our police department to our community in light of everything that is going on,” Lower said.
Several officers also will march in the parade at noon Sunday, Lower said. The Olympia Police Department participated in the parade for the first time last year.
