Western Washington University honored its Outstanding Graduates for the 2009-10 academic year, including Music Outstanding Graduate Gentry Hill, Olympia. She is a graduate of Black Hills High School and the daughter of Ron and Grace Hill of Olympia.
The California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, Calif., announced the graduation of Sarah E. Peterson. Peterson is the daughter of Carolyn and Rick Peterson of Olympia.
The following Western Washington University students were awarded scholarships:
Julie Dahlen, daughter of Mark and Nancy Dahlen of Olympia, received a $1,000 Don C. and Ada G. Walter Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to students who demonstrate musical ability and potential as music educators.
Jason Asperin, son of Ricardo and Lyn Asperin of Olympia, also received a $500 Don C. and Ada G. Walter Memorial Scholarship.
Shanyese Trujillo, daughter of Dawn Drake of Lacey, received a $1,500 Avis J. Stewart Scholarship, which is awarded to students who are of sophomore or junior status working toward a degree in education through Woodring College of Education.
Erin Stehr, daughter of Vernon Stehr and Caron Stehr of Olympia, received a $1,000 Alumni Association Leader Scholarship for students with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher who show a strong desire to succeed and demonstrate a diverse background in school and community activities.
Daren Threatt of Olympia has earned honors for the spring semester at the University of New Hampshire.
Angela Mathis, daughter of Dan and Mary Mathis of Olympia, has been named to the dean’s list for the 2010 spring semester at the College of Saint Benedict.
