The fifth annual Math for Life is running now through April 19.
Students who attend schools in the Tumwater, North Thurston, Griffin and Olympia school districts are invited to participate in the free program, which is designed to help demonstrate how math is used in real life.
Here’s how it works: Students take the Math for Life map they received at school (or downloaded from the Thurston County Chamber of Commerce’s website) to five participating businesses. They’ll get a stamp for talking to someone about how math is used at that business, and for solving a math problem that’s geared toward their grade level. When they submit a map with five stamps to their teachers, they’ll be entered for a chance to win prizes.
