Olympia residents may notice increased police and fire activity near Capital Mall Tuesday night as the 10th Civil Support Team conducts training.
From 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., Washington National Guard soldiers and airmen will conduct a joint training exercise. First responders from the Joint Base Lewis-McChord Fire Department, West Pierce Fire and Rescue, and Eastside Fire and Rescue will participate, and other departments will be at the mall to observe the training.
Lights and sirens won’t be used during the training, and signs will be posted announcing the exercise.
The Washington National Guard’s 10th Civil Support Team identifies and assesses suspected weapons of mass destruction, advises civilian responders on appropriate actions through on-site testing and expert consultation, and facilitates the arrival of additional state and federal military forces.
