Gov. Chris Gregoire is heading to Washington, D.C., to discuss how states can better work with the federal government on issues regarding national security.
Gregoire will join Vermont Gov. Jim Douglas this morning to testify before a Department of Defense panel that is working to assess current capabilities to respond to chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear incidents.
The panel must present its assessment and any recommendations to the secretary of defense and to the Senate and House Armed Services committees by Sept. 15.
Gregoire and Douglas were invited to testify on behalf of the Council of Governors.
Never miss a local story.
Gregoire will return to Olympia on Thursday.
