Tea Party activists from Pierce County plan a rally at the state Capitol steps at noon Saturday.
"This is more of a grassroots rally. All the people that will be speaking that day are organizers. They are the people out there – movers and shakers – the ones behind the scenes," said Carl Pike, leader of the Pierce County Tea Party. "It's all regular folks. I didn't want to pay anybody to come out" on a plane.
Details of the "Tea Party Take Back" event are at http://www.piercecountyteaparty.com. It says speakers include Pike and Lawrence Hutt of the Pierce County group, Keli Carrender of the Seattle Sons & Daughters of Liberty and Tom Hann of We the People.
Pike said he had no estimate of the number of people who might show up. The date falls about a month before the Nov. 2 general election.
