Good morning at the end of the first week of legislative session.
Most committees are holding work sessions today as lawmakers continue to get primers or refreshers on the areas their committees oversee.
Gov. Chris Gregoire's staff is briefing House members now on her proposal for merging Fish and Wildlife with Parks and Recreation and bringing them under the governor. At a public hearing, the House Labor Workforce and Development Committee is being briefed on another set of Gregoire's proposed changes, this one reducing unemployment insurance taxes.
The House Business and Financial Services Committee will hold several hearings, including one on a bill drawn up by Port Orchard Rep. Jan Angel to create a hair design license in the state.
Senate Majority Leader Lisa Brown will meet with reporters today to talk about the session so far.
