U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, the liberal Democratic icon from Ohio, joined Washington state workers' rally today in the Capitol Rotunda, according to sources. He also is speaking on the cost of war at 3 this afternoon at Capitol Theater in Olympia (doors open at 2; donation of $5 to $15 suggested).
State Democrats also are in Thurston County today, gathering at 5 p.m. at Saint Martin's Pavilion in Lacey for their yearly crab feed.
The state's top elected officials typically speak to the crowd, and organizers say they are expecting speakers to include Gov. Chris Gregoire, U.S. Reps. Jay Inslee and Adam Smith and others - including Kucinich. With Republicans grabbing the 3rd Congressional District seat in November and U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell up for election in 2012, many attendees will be thinking about the next election cycle as well as the ongoing budget challenges in Olympia and Washington, D.C.
I typically attend the crab feed but am off work today (except for this post).
