Former state Sen. Bob McCaslin, a Spokane Valley Republican known for wiseacre comments on the Senate floor, died Sunday. The Spokesman-Review newspaper has the story.
McCaslin was 84 and was recuperating from a leg amputation that was just the latest turn in a health saga that forced him to resign in January. McCaslin was mid-term as a Spokane Valley councilman, but his 4th Legislative District seat was filled earlier in the year by Republican Spokane businessman Jeff Baxter.
Judging from Jim Camden's story in the Spokesman, McCaslin held a patent to his sense of humor to the end:
Never miss a local story.
The story has comments from Republican and Democratic senators who served with him.
