Republican U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler is sending staffers to Olympia Wednesday for what the 3rd district lawmaker calls "mobile office hours."
The freshman lawmaker's staff will be available from 3 to 6 p.m. [March 16] to talk about federal issues at the Thurston Regional Planning Council's office at 2424 Heritage Court S.W., Room B, on Olympia's west side.
Thurston County Democrats complained recently that Herrera Beutler was ignoring the district. As The Olympian reported, Herrera Beutler won't open an Olympia-area office as her predecessors had done for at least four decades.
The sprawling 3rd district covers southwest Washington from Olympia to Vancouver and from the Cascades to the Pacific.
Interestingly, she seems to be emphasizing the reach of her district. Her congressional web site has a link today to C-SPAN footage of her recent speech on health-care, and it identifies her as a 3rd district Republican – with the two cities, Vancouver and Olympia listed below.
Herrera's staffers say they also held mobile office hours on March 3 at the Olympia library.
