Thurston Public Utility District No. 1 raised nearly $3 million Tuesday through the sale of tax-exempt revenue bonds.
Proceeds will be used to retire some of the water utility’s higher-interest debt and to pay for improvement and expansion of water systems over the next three years, PUD general manager John Weidenfeller said.
Thurston PUD owns 155 water systems and manages 15 others, serving 4,045 homes and businesses, including the Tanglewilde and Thompson Place subdivisions near Lacey.
The utility expanded water utility service several years ago and now has 52 water systems in Thurston County serving more than 2,000 customers.
