Two former teachers vie for state schools chief job

Both Erin Jones and Chris Reykdal say they will be strong advocates for K-12 education in what could be a bruising debate over how to end the unconstitutional reliance on local school district levies to help pay school-employee salaries. They are seeking to replace Randy Dorn, who has been a forceful critic of legislative inaction on meeting the mandates of the state Supreme Court’s ruling in the McCleary case.

Female senators are ‘worried’ about Trump’s weight

Donald Trump’s disparaging comments on the weight of a former Miss Universe contestant haven’t escaped the notice of the women who serve in the U.S. Senate, according to Sen. Claire McCaskill. McCaskill tweeted on Wednesday that she and her fellow women senators are “worried about Donald Trump’s weight” and suggested that the Republican presidential nominee submit to “a public daily weigh-in.”
