Secretary of State Sam Reed certified a second initiative Tuesday for the Nov. 2 ballot - a proposal by builders to let private insurers sell workers' compensation policies to businesses.
Initiative 1082, sponsored by the Building Industry Association of Washington, has been endorsed by an array of business interests. The measure was certified after a check showed it had more than the 241,153 valid voter signatures needed to qualify for the ballot. BIAW submitted about 345,000 signatures .
Also approved by a sampling technique Monday was I-1100, a liquor-privatization measure backed by the Costco wholesaler. One other liquorprivatization measure, I-1105, still awaits a signature check; the latter measure requires retail outlets to buy liquor from wholesalers rather than directly from producers, which I-1100 would allow.
