The Democratic Study Group at Panorama will host a campaign forum at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Panorama Auditorium on Circle Loop.
It will include pro-and-con discussions on five ballot measures on the November ballot. Retiring state Rep. Brendan Williams, D-Olympia, also is scheduled to give a report on the state’s budget deficit.
The ballot measures getting attention include Initiative 1098, which would implement an income tax on high earners and reductions in business and property taxes; I-1053, which would require a two-thirds legislative vote for tax increases; I-1107, which is aimed at repealing taxes imposed this year on soda, bottled water, candy and other products; I-1082, which would let private insurers sell workers’ compensation policies in Washington; and Referendum 52, which would authorize energy-efficiency projects for schools that are backed by state bonds.
The group plans a discussion of four other ballot measures at its Oct. 12 forum. For more information, call Ruth Shearer at 360-438-5682.
