At least two of nine cases of salmonella from Honduran cantaloupe in Washington state are in Thurston and Lewis counties, the state Department of Health reported today.
Five of the nine cases have required hospitalization, but there have been no deaths.
The Food and Drug Administration advises businesses to remove Agropecuaria Montelibano cantaloupe from their shelves.
Consumers should throw away that brand of cantaloupe, the DOH says in a news release. If you can't tell what brand it is, throw it away, it also advises.
Dozens of cases have been found across 16 states.
King, Pierce and Spokane counties also have cases.
