• Published July 13, 2009

Dan and Shirley Baker met while picking beans in Park Rose, Oregon and eventually got hitched on July 10th, 1954. This year will mark 55 years of marriage. Not to mention that they will both turn 75 in 2009. They have lived in Portland, OR. Los Angeles, CA. Walla Walla, WA. and Rockford, Ill. Home has been Olympia from 1969-1977 and 1989-2009. Dan spent his career in the corrugated container business (boxes), retiring from Weyerhauser, while Shirley did her darned best to focus on the upbringing of their lovely kids. They raised 4 children with great success. As it turns out, they are incredibly proud of all them. Tim (Julie), Terri (Jim Garren), Tom (Moncia) are all of the Olympia area with Tammi in Covington, WA. There are 8 grand kids out there and 3 great-grand children. No party is planned, because they had a big one on their 50th. Many friends and family attended the affair and they thank everyone for their friendship and love over the years.
